  I started my 5 th grader last year in Memoria Press's Latina Christiana I. Excellent, excellent. Vocab and grammar based (a parts-to-whole approach), with a CD and easy-to-use teacher's book. Having never taken a foreign language before, my son caught on splendidly and excelled at it. It was a great way to teach study skills (vocal notecards, etc) as well. We loved doing it together! Highly recommend!

  Actually for a 6 th grader I would start with Latina Christiana 1 before going to First Form. Memoria Press even recommends that.

  I second Carolina Ospina, First Form by Memoria Press would be a great place to start. PRIMA is intended as a gentle intro for 2 nd/3 rd graders. MP's Latin courses are excellent.

  My daughter did First Form Latin, Second Form, and Third Form Latin in 5-6-7 th grade through Memoria Press Online Academy, and each year she was in class with high school kids who were taking the class for high school credit. A 7 th grader doesn't need to start with Latina Christiana; she can start with First Form. That's what I would recommend, either on her own or through Memoria Press Online Academy. This year, BTW, my daughter is in 8 th grade and taking a class through our co-op that is working through the first half of Wheelock's Latin (a college text). She is the youngest kid in the class, but her Memoria Press studies prepared her well -- she's smoking the high schoolers, gradewise.

  We use the online academy for high school Latin through Memoria Press. My daughter, who is in 10 th grade is in Latin 3. Good luck.

  My 8 th grade son is doing Memoria Press First Form. I recommend it for older kids starting out. He plans to take Latin in high school too. (We will not be homeschooling high school.)

"World geography is required in TN for testing in 7th grade, so I thought it would simplify things if I taught them both the same history lessons. Thanks!"

  Memoria Press is EXCELLENT for geography! I used it for my 6 th and 10 th graders. It comes with a teacher guide, student text and workbook. I usually copy the workbook for one of them or you can purchase another separately. Rainbow resource.com sells it and also memoriapress.com. We use Bob Jones for History..........
