  Here Is the Skinny.. If you purchased a *new* computer from HP your SOL.. They will not provide a downgrade license.. (But you can still purchase a full windows 7 pro copy to put on it.. ) Any New computer that is purchased and has "Windows 8 Pro" has Full downgrade rights out of the box, from Microsoft.. Lesser versions may or may not have rights depending on what Hardware manufacturer you bought it from.. (See the HP comment above..) You'll have to call and find out.. IF you purchased an Windows 8 "upgrade" it does not include downgrade. You can simply format your computer and re install the previous version of windows you had.. To preform the downgrade you will need installation media (Such as a USB Drive or DVD that has Windows 7 professional or Windows Vista Business) [ You can download these images from the internet and make a boot-able dvd or usb drive] You will need a valid product key for that older OS, and it can be a previously used key, to get past the product key request during installation. (Not terribly hard to find) Make sure you have backed up your system, and if your computer has secure boot (In the Bios) enabled, you will have to disable it.. You would simply put the USB Drive or DVD in the computer and run the install, using the old key.. When you get to online activation, you will have to use Telephone activation, (The number will be listed on the screen) and provide them the Windows 8 Key you have and tell them you want to claim your downgrade rights. You will be given a ridiculously long single activation key, should they accept your reason, to enter into the activation window. If you can stand the interface long enough to upgrade to windows 8.1 there are some clever "Hacks" out there to make it more appealing and more like the windows 7 interface. The Win8 OS is supposed to be "better" has a smaller memory footprint, and is more "Secure" but I can't stand the OS either... IF you need a Win7 Pro Or Ult Image..
