  Where are you staying? There are so many great places in SF, you can find one that is close to you so you can walk or take a short taxi ride. Sounds like your husband would like Farmer Browns. I've never been, but it's been recommended to me and has great reviews, lots of beer: http://www.farmerbrownsf.com/. Also, sounds like he would love Johnny Foley's. It's also in Union Square. Tons of steaks and tons of beer- Irish. It also has the most fun piano bar EVER. Just went the the piano bar for my 40 th in March. http://www.johnnyfoleys.com/.
