  We brought home an 8 month old Ridgeless Ridge Back girl on Sunday. She is very very afraid of our 5 and 7 year old girls. We have started to try have them ignore her, and go about their day, loving on our older Ridgeback. It seems as the days go by, she is getting more and more afraid of them, instead of the other way around. She is now growling and barking at them whenever they are in the same room as her. Any suggestions would be be GREATLY appreciated. We live in Southlake Texas and are having a tough time finding a trainer. Any recommendations?

  I was born and raised in Texas and still had to google Southlake. It's in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. First thing first - keep the kids safe. The dog needs to be physically separated from them at all times until and unless the issue has been correct ed. I've had very limited interaction with her, but Karen Deeds ( http://www.deedscanineconnection.com/ ) seems to be pretty well respected in that area. She's a certified behaviorist.

If your dog growled at you, I can recommend a trainer. Etc. Well, one lady actually seemed receptive to hiring a trainer, but she lives in Dallas and I only know Houston behaviorists.
