  We have used Essentials in Writing 9 th Grade this year (working on the final dvd lessons in fact!). We liked the program a lot. The pace was right for us and my kiddo has a good understanding of what goes into essays now, how to go about planning them, etc. BUT--i don't feel like her writing style/content level is where it should be for grade level, even if her structure is accurate. She has great ideas when discussing them, but it isn't translating to well developed, mature sentences. I've been trying to find someone or some program that evaluates writing samples and provides feedback (someone other than me--i never know if i'm being too hard or too easy on my evaluations).

  Foreign Language ? or Language Arts? I have seen and picked up ( for writing instruction) Essentials In Writing which are all on CD-ROM. If your looking for Foreign Language lessons many times books will have CD-ROMs in them our ASL ( Sign Language course does ) HTH's.
