Hey everyone, I've been vegan for 5.5 years now and was vegetarian for 1.5 years before that. I'm currently dating someone who is not vegan, but he is very open to eating vegan food and has enjoyed it so far. He comes from a meat-and-potatoes family out in the country, so this is a whole new world for him. I commend him for being so open-minded. I would like to ease him into experimenting with vegan food rather than overload him with culture shock. We are going out for dinner tomorrow night in Center City and, while I have my favorite go-to spots, I'm trying to think about what he might like. He would probably appreciate meat comfort food substitutes that taste pretty close to the real thing -- things like chicken and pasta dishes rank high with him. Have any of you recently had experiences with omnivore family members, friends, or significant others being particularly impressed with vegan restaurants in the city? What would you recommend as a good place to go with someone new to the world of veg foods who is ready and willing to be impressed? Thanks!
