I have each of my lobes pierced three times (among myriad other piercings) and am very frustrated with the poor quality of the jewelry I have. They’re standard earrings with standard backs and they tarnish, my ears get infected, and the backs fall off. I have has several surgeries on my hands/wrists and my fine motor is not great, so screw on backs are almost impossible for me to do myself. I’m looking for some stainless or surgical steel studs that snap together. Similar to the seamless rings I see everywhere, but in stud form, preferably with pretty/shiny stones! Google has not been my friend in this search, any recommendations? Thank you thank you!!

Ashkaztra replied:If you just want the balls to be large, you're not looking for larger gauge, but larger diameter ends. Gauge is used for the actual jewellery, the ends are usually measured by diameter. I don't know what kind of jewellery you have, but for a 16 g bar, the largest ball ends I usually see are 5 mm or 3/16", which is about the same size as you'd often see on a tongue bar. They sell several in that size over at [bodyartforms.com](https://bodyartforms.com) \- You can chose the "ends" category and search by diameter.
firewings42 replied:Most nose piercings are done at 18 ga or 20 ga. The ends are different from the middle that goes through the fistula. Your best bet is to get an 18 ga labret stud with interchangeable ends and get the end you like. Bodyartforms sells the bars and ends seperately.

itsasaltysurprise replied:Maria Tash clickers are good(so I've heard, no personal experience. I've bought a couple clickers from Zadamer jewelry and they're very secure. Great quality stuff and I think they're fairly reasonable. There's some cheap clickers by Invictus on bodyartforms.com but they're not the best quality as far as uniformity goes. I have 6 of their clickers and 2 aren't the same shape and the hinge mechanism isn't the same tightness on the majority of them, but they're all decently secure for the most part(a tug on them will unclasp them but will stay put otherwise; two do require much more strength to open them than the others).

I don't know that you'll find the regular post earrings, but you can definitely find small labrets with plain ball ends. Look for brands like Neometal, Anatometal, and Industrial Strength.

Having said that, if you get good quality jewellery installed by a piercer and don't play with it, then it shouldn't happen at all.
