While she is chipped, the chip company refused to give metro owners info, per policy. Someone has to know who owns this dog. I'm sure she wants to go home to those who love her. When we moved into our current home 5 years ago I didn't think to call my vet about my cats microchip. Recently I asked the vet how that information got updated. Apparently when you move, you need to have the vet scan the chip so they can update the file with new addresses and phone numbers. I'd hate to think my kitty escaped outside and people could only find old contact information. Also, make sure your pet has tags with some sort of identifying information on them so that if they are lost, they can be identified and returned home. I don't think any of us want to lose our fur babies! Again, just helpful tips for those posting that they're moving in the area.Leslie L. replied:Go to homeagain.com and put in the login and password that you set up when you registered the chip. The login should be your email address. Use the same email you had when you registered the chip. It should give you the chip number and dog's name. Click on "Manage Pet Profile" and update your info if needed. No need to pay the yearly fee if you don't want to. Your pet is still in the database whether you pay for the extra services or not. If this doesn't work or your pet was transferred to you by someone else, there's a number to call to get it all straightened out. Good luck.Leslie L. replied:My dog is chipped throuh Home Again. They offer you a membership for approx $20 a year, but that includes certain services like putting out bulletins with your pet's picture to vets in the area. You don't have to pay to just have your info on the site. A vet can scan your lost pet and your name and info will come up, which is why it's important to go online and update it.Anne M. replied:One of mine has a Home Again chip but I couldn't figure out how to get my info on the site without paying the annual fee. Our other dog has an Avid micro chip and it was the same, a monthly or yearly membership. The BV Animal Hospital has scanned both, I'm not sure if they did anything with the info though.

Its only $18 if you opt out of the anuual feature. You can even pay for the annual registration for more help options then opt out of it when you find the dog. It's very simple if your pet has a Home Again microchip (PVH uses Home Again microchips exclusively, and ANY microchip can be registered with their service! http://microchip.homeagain.com/faqs.html How do people register their pets with HomeAgain? How do they change their contact information? Studies have shown that less than 50% of microchips are ever registered by pet owners, so taking care of microchip registration before the pet leaves your clinic or shelter is important. This may be done online by logging into the HomeAgain Vet Portal or HomeAgain Shelter Portal, or by mailing in the microchip enrollment form. Owners may register their pets online at HomeAgain.com or by calling 1-888-HomeAgain (1-888-466-3242). Owners will need to supply their contact information as well as their pet’s unique microchip ID code and a description of the pet. Photos are strongly recommended. HomeAgain members may update their contact information at any time online by logging into HomeAgain.com or by phone at no charge; in addition, they will be prompted to do so throughout the year and when their annual membership comes up for renewal.
