Anyone have good suggestions for a basement waterproofing contractor? Just discovered (when I moved a bookcase that had been hiding the damage) severe mold damage to one wall and the carpet in that area. Have had 2 contractors come by, but need another opinion. Also may be trying to get builder to fix this - so far estimates range from $5000 - $10,000 to fix this right. Idiot builder did not hook up drainage system underneath the house properly, and also built concrete porch wrong! This caused pooling of water underneath porch foundation that forced its way down and then up into one corner of finished off basement. What a mess! Right now that corner of my basement (the carpet, the floor underneath and the bottom area of the wall) looks like a science experiment gone wrong. The builder has "lawyered up" but so have I. However, I even IF they were to fix it, I don't trust them to do it right. In the past when they've "fixed things" their fixes are worse than the original problem, I've found! In the house 3 years, the builder's argument is we should have found this within 1 year, and forget about their beyond useless "10 year limited warranty". Only found it because bought ping pong table for basement and moved a bookcase to accomodate it! If not for ping pong table (best $299 I ever spent) I might not have found this for another 3 years!
