  hi Kree Brown - I don't think you're wrong to ask, you never know. But I don't know if anyone in this group is a furniture designer, and I think "starving artists" are as entitled to set their prices as high as they want without being told they basically don't know how to run a business. Let's keep things friendly here Anyway- there's a great furniture designer in the area I know named Alex, his company is called Urban Timber. http://www.sdurbantimber.com/ - I don't know if it's in your friend's price range but their work is amazing.
