She has a lot of friends/family who will be around him and she is concerned about his behavior with new people. I have reached out to the wonderful MCACC community about some ideas for trainers who might be able to help us/her but I have seen lots of people have success getting advice/input on here so I wanted to put the question out here as well. We are meeting tonight for another meet and greet and I would love to share some insight so she has a better idea of what training might be needed. I wonder if any trainers or animal lovers have suggestions for us as we move forward. What have others seen in their work with fearful/reactive dogs? Have you seen obedience classes make a difference or would we need to consider more of a one-on-one trainer situation. Are there any trainers that offer free or discounted advice (or even a training session) to rescue/foster dogs? I have some names from my fellow MCACC volunteers of recommended trainers but would certainly love to find as many options as possible. Lastly, what tools or training methods have you used to help socialize? I don't want to fail my sweet boy by not sharing things that might help her make an informed decision. He is very skidish and just recently he tried attacking my sisters 16 year old friend. We don't know why he is starting to act this way. He's great with so many people it's just only certain people he acts aggressive towards and it can be people he doesn't even know. He does greats with kids and wonderful with my one year old. He gets along with cats and dogs. It's just been scary lately that he tried to attack a young girl. He is part German Shepard and we're assuming the dad was chow. He is 3. We really need help to get him better. My mom would never take him to a pound but God forbid he bit someone it would be out of our hands. He doesn't exactly know his size and likes to jump up so I don't recommend little kids, but he is kid friendly! He was abandoned and left for a week with no food or water outside in this heat I'm surprised he made it! He needs a chance to have a family that loves him and neuter him!!! He loves people! Just had a bad owner! Please help me find him a good home!!!! He is being watched by a good friend of mine, I can't have him here because he is very dog aggressive!!!
