  I don't know where this friend lives in the city, Liz Fenton, but my favorite spot is http://www.tokuyamasalon.com/ They are in East Village and Upper East Side. They have great discounts for your fist visit, and their regular prices are not bad. My stylist's name is Tommy, and he is amazing.
