Can anyone recommend a good exterminator they have used ... Hammondsport area? Not sure what is running around in the walls, but it is time for it (them??) to move on. Thx

Any recommendations for bee exterminators? Yellow jackets have made one heck of a nest in the ceiling of my daughter's room.

We had a similar problem and after posting it on I ♡ Keuka Lake and getting several recommendations, I called Baker's Exterminating at 315-536-4741. I chose this one because Ed Woodruff, the owner, responded with helpful information and then even asked if I needed someone to come that day (Saturday). We waited until Monday when Mike came and took care of our problem in one application.
We are having a bee problem under the shingles on the cottage. Spraying hasn't seemed to work so wondering about an exterminator in the east lake road area or any other suggestions. ..Many thanks!
Ed W. replied:
They are likely to be Yellow Jackets, not Honey Bees. Less then 5% of calls like this turn out to be Honey Bees. But either way you should Never spray if they are going into a hole on a structure. We always use a bee keeper to save Honey Bees, and hope everyone would do this. If it is Yellow Jackets and you spray into the hole it makes it more difficult to get rid of them, and increases the chances of them breaking through to the inside of the house. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or need a hand with this. Ed Woodruff Baker's Exterminating 315-536-4741

Does anyone know of a good exterminator? Having a terrible time with cluster flies,
Ed W. replied:
Thanks everyone for the kind words. For the cluster flies the treatment is done on the exterior surface of the home. You are trying to prevent them from getting inside and wintering themselves. They do lay their eggs in the ground but they also fly up to a 1/2 mile, so unless you spray a 1/2 circle around the home it's ineffective. The best times to treat are 8/15-9/15. We start the 1 st week in August and finish up 1 st week in October. The dates are tough, some years the flies are early some years they are later(by this I mean starting to come into the houses. Which is triggered by the weather getting cold) So what can you do now? Fog your attic, I would not recommend spraying inside around windows as the flies that come in die pretty quickly anyway so why put the chemical in your living space. As far as doing the outside of the house now it's tough. It might help some but it will not be nearly as effective as it should. I will be honest with you, your going to be stuck with some this year, but you can try some of these things and it might reduce the amount. It is also important to remember that no matter which pest control company people use this year or any year, please remember it is pest control not elimination. This year is a really bad year for a lot of fall pest, and sometimes customers feel as if maybe the treatment is working like past years, where actually it is working just fine. There are just a lot more flies this year to try and keep out. Any questions anyone has feel free to call me or my office. We have great prevention programs.
