Hi there, Neighbors. I need to convert old video cassettes to digital a format. Anyone know of a reliable person that provides this kind of service?
Jan S. replied:
We are happily using scancafe.com to digitize all our old photos (prints and negatives); don't know if they do videos but it's worth a try. They're reliable and moderately priced.
Hi I have a box of negatives that I want to save in digital. I went to a photo store and they wanted $2 a picture. I have way too many pictures for that to be affordable. Someone told me that I can buy a little machine and do it myself. These are wedding pictures so I need them to be really good quality. Anyone have any experience with this? Which machine is good? I read so many reviews and I'm utterly confused, hoping someone here can tell me what to buy
Recommendation needed - I have 8mm video that I want converted to digital format. If anyone has had success with a local business specializing in this area, I would be most appreciative if you would share.
Does anyone know where I can have these negatives developed? They're from 2001 I've never seen this kind before and didn't know where around here I can have them developed. Thank you in advance!!

Can anyone recommend a business that will scan hundreds of photos for a memorial service? I've not had much luck finding a place. I'd thought Office Depot of the like would offer the service, but I'm having no luck. I'm a little hesitant calling a mom and pop shop, as these are the most important family photos of a dying man.
Any recommendations and/or considerations for a photo scanning service that will scan original print and slide images to DVD? Friend has huge collection of photos she wants scanned. Thanks!
My mom gave me a box of negatives from 1920s- 1940s. Can someone recommend an online service that can print these for me?

I had mine at www.scancafe.com. They're in California & I did send mine away, getting them done in my town was much too expensive. I've sent 3 separate orders to them, all old, including several old 8 mm movies. Never had a problem not getting thing...See More
My husband and I have our photos from the 70's. Several of the pics have turned reddish. Do y'all have suggestions to fix them?
My husband for years did slides instead of photos. Is there a way we can get the slides saved to our computer and print them. I'm one of "those" OCD people. I love looking at photos.
Thank you for any help.
Ron L. replied:
35 mm slides will eventually deteriorate badly. The redness can be corrected with a number of programs if its not too bad. If you don't want to invest in a scanner try ScanCafe.com. We sent them several thousand old slide and they did a great job at a fair price.
Query: Can anyone recommend a service to digitize 35mm color transparencies? I have a couple hundred fairly old (22 years) ones I'd like to be able to look at again...
David C. replied:
http://www.scancafe.com/ Used for ~700 slides. Very happy. Mostly Kodachrome and Ektachrome. The latter didn't come out as well. But I could correct those to acceptable levels.
Anyone in Cairns recommend a company to digitise my photo albums? I just want to drop off the albums and pick up the discs. I would really appreciate your recommendations folks.
Carsten P. replied:
Www.Scancafe.com - only you need someone in the US where they can return the photos/negatives.
I just came across a bunch of slides of Wheelus AFB, circa 1967. PTA carnivals, palaces, and a bunch more. I would love to share, BUT they are slides. Does anyone know of a place that converts slide to digital images?
Tim M. replied:
Here's an excerpt of an email that I sent on the topic recently... ScanCafe http://www.scancafe.com - This is the service that I used for the majority of our family digitization work. Great service, fair pricing & good fulfillment process. Their service includes retouching, important to me since a lot of our media was as much as 50 yrs old. They are based in SFO area and have a couple of pricing platforms. If you want a quick turnaround, they process the work in CA. If you are willing to wait a few weeks, they outsource the work to their labs in India. I am very happy with their work. If I had to do it all over again, I would have done all of the digitization work at once vs. several steps. Though I may have had to organize the media a bit, the pricing would have been much better. To be fair (to me!), ScanCafe only started offering volume discounts a couple of years ago.
I just "stole" a carousel of slides from my mom of Mogadiscio with the intent of having them digitized. Who here is a techie who can recommend a service or a piece of equipment to do this?
Rick C. replied:
Tim, I had all of our slides (300+) scanned at http://www.scancafe.com/
Watching our wedding video. Can't believe in November Jon and I will be married for 14 years. Since our video is on VHS Can anyone recommend a good and trustworthy place that can transfer VHS tapes to dvd?
Lethally M. replied:
Oh! Try scancafe.com. I sent off over 1200 old b&w pics that belonged to my mom. I shipped them, they scanned them, cleaned some up and shipped me a DVD with all the pics and shipped back the originals. I can assure you they do good work.
Need to copy some VHS to avi or other media format. Has anyone used any transfer services they could recommend? The fall back is to find a vhs player and use Roxio or something.

Hey guys!
We have an old slide that we want to get blown up into a nice picture. Does anyone know anyone/anywhere they would trust to do this?
Thank you!
Annabelle S. replied:
We used ScanCafe.com to professionally scan all of our negatives, historic family photos without negatives, and slides into an electronic format. The negatives are now on a couple of DVDs in our safety deposit box at the bank. They are also on our iCloud account that links to our phones and tablets. The whole family can view or print photos of their grandparents wedding. ScanCafe did a fantastic job. It would be very easy to get a large print of your slide after it was converted to a digital format.
