I have a 17 month beagle who goes to agility training once a week, gets a 2 hour walk with another dog once a week and at least an hour of walking for the rest of the week unless it is chucking it down as he refuses to go outside in the rain. He is currently on chuddleys light and has previously been on royal canin medium light. He is 4 kgs heavier than he should be. Any suggestions of better ones?

There is a site - it was called www.whichdogfood.co.uk but it's just changed it Web site name, which has analysed all the dog foods and ranks them. Worth a look.

Try www.whichdogfood.co.uk Firstly as I apologise for this but Royal Canin is about the worst food you can get not all because it's a bad food but they rip you off in the process CSJ is less than half the price and better. Also steer clear of anything naafi does ie Pedigree, Bakers, Chappie etc Millies Wolfheart delivers to BFG and are about the best kibble money can buy less maybe Eden. Husky owner here, summer months ie less active I feed less because we exercise less, winter months we run 15 miles per week sometimes not inc daily 40 min walks and I feed more.

I will cook for her if necessary, but wonder if anyone has experience of/could recommend a good commercial kibble diet. Preferably venison/potato or similar. I know she's allergic to chicken and has been on fish, turkey, lamb, rice and grain free diets

i would recomend you check both those feeds mentioned out thoroughly as they both contain ingrediants that may set off a sensitive stomache so i would check that ther is nothing in them that may do so with your individual dog . this is a good site that tells you whats in foods and there rateings . http://www.whichdogfood.co.uk/

They are all fed on a local dog food that is on par with James Wellbeloved/Skinners. It is great for two out of the three, but I am looking to change my youngest. He's 17months, and is a skinny rat! He's happy and the vet said he's healthy, but I can't help feeling he's not getting enough from the food, 90% of poo's are good, but he goes quite often and some can be runny. As well as the food he gets carrots as treats, and also a small Sardine with his main dinner. Any ideas that won't cost me the earth?

Www.whichdogfood.co.uk is a great resource. But dog food is a mine field ! I do believe RAW is the best and it is not expensive. I would stick to the pre prepared packs though as its far easier. Our Boston terrier loves beef lip which you can buy in chunks at pets at home. We add veggies and she gets a deer rib once a week for calcium and to keep her teeth clean.
