Fresh food shopping, where is best?
(Sorry for the long post)
Our financial situation has just changed massively, we have been on two high incomes for years, due to a major health challenge will be living on one from now on.
After the mortgage we will have $800ish a fortnight, this has to cover: rates, water, electricity, medical costs, insurances, rego x2, fuel, phones, Internet plus food.
(We may yet get a tinny amount of FTB for our 1 preschool aged child)
We spend a huge amount on food, hardly any takeaways, mainly cooked whole foods. I'm majorly gluten intolerant, so that adds to the cost. My question is: where is the best place to shop for fresh fruit & veg, meat and extras like nuts, dried fruits etc.
I generally shop at the Belconnen markets, but today's fruit and veg shop was $91, the only unnecessary 'extra' were dates and a bottle of juice.
I've heard about the ANU co-op, is it worth it?
Any budgeting tips, or advice on places to shops would be much appreciated.
