I know about other options to have them shipped here over night but I don't want them to arrive half dead and fully paid for. I've bounced around a few Asian markets and wholesale seafood distributors in the West Loop area but have had no luck. Again I'm looking for LIVE crawfish, not restaurants that put on boils or serve crawfish in the city. Thanks in advance y'all.
jeffmack01 replied:I host a boil at my place every year, and shipping them from LA is your best bet, IMO. I've used lacrawfish.com every year and have had great results. Last year was the first year after 5 years of ordering where I had more than a small handful arrive dead. I contacted them about it and they refunded 25% of my purchase. I usually get 60+ lbs. (so close to around 1 k crawfish), and with the exception of last year, I could count on one hand the number of dead critters I find. From the time they package them up to the time they arrive at your door is usually less than 24 hours. And the delivery times are very reliably around 10 am.

Or you can drive to Plattsburgh as Price Chopper sells them frozen (call to confirm if you're going to go to the trouble). You can also order them online from LA Crawfish - see link - and they will ship them live to Canada via FedEx. If you buy live ones make sure to "purge" them first by letting them sit in a bucket of water for a short bit so they release all their poo.
