I make $4500 per month, after bills and savings Im left with $800 a month for spending cash. I have zero accounts in collections however I have about 10 closed accounts, all zero balance just sitting on my report. I also have a secured credit card that I recently paid off. Overall I’m caught up on bills and all delinquent accounts. Will hiring a restoration company help me raise my credit score ? Or would I be better of just waiting on time to fix my score ? If so, any recommendations on credit repair company’s?
johnsmithmaddie replied:No way. You have items caught up and it sounds like you continue to pay on time. The majority of your credit score is made up from paying on time and managing your credit where you aren’t maxed out. Past that if you have anything on your credit report that is wrong, you can dispute that information. Check out annual credit report.com but don’t buy any of the score or additional pieces. If things are good then keep up the good work and let the score rebound as a result.
modeler1945 replied:Credit "fix" and restoration companies generally work by disputing any negative marks on your credit report. This can boost your credit score but generally only for a short time. The creditors that had the negative marks placed on your credit report then have 30 days to respond. If at the end of the 30 days it is confirmed that those negative marks are indeed correct, well your credit score tanks again and you're back where you started. The fact of the matter is building a good score takes time. Some of the other Redditors have made some good comments about how to tackle that.

Its lying but if it comes off its their problem. A judgement won't come off until after you settle; then fight the statute. Any collections are hard to get off but say you settled anyways in the dispute. I've had it happen. Also call the creditor and say you'll only pay for $.10 on the dollar and bargain for a low amount then say you'll only pay if they immediately take it off your credit.

Jamie M. replied:Go to equifax, they have a building off if thimble shoals. You'll have to pay for your report, but it's not that expensive. A couple bucks. I've also used credit karma, it's free and it was pretty accurate for my score.

Betty H. replied:That's why you need to print your reports so you can make a little note on the account you want to delete and send it to each credit bureau. But they have to be 4 yes old so they can delete them with no problem
