Are there any bakers in this group? Professional or even just well experienced? I rarely bake but I'm going to make my baby shower cake myself and want it to turn out really well so any tips or tried & true recipes would be appreciated! I know there's vegan substitutes for everything but there's like endless egg substitutes and I have no idea which one is best? Or which plant milk is best for baking? I want to make a simple vanilla or almond flavored cake with vanilla or buttercream frosting.

Use any cake recipe on chefchloe.com (or in her cookbooks) and you'll be good to go
Just booked a trip to NYC for the summer, any recommendations of *affordable* vegan restaurants? Vegan friendly is great too, I'll be with a vegetarian and two omnis.

By CHLOE is a must. Lines out the door constantly though so be prepared to wait! http://chefchloe.com
Coming to NY on Saturday for a week and staying with omnivore friends who are adventurous enough to check out a vegan restaurant with us. Where should we take them? (And any other good vegan recommendations for our week are much appreciated!)

Blossom (http://blossomnyc.com/home/), Dirt Candy, and or By Chloe for a more casual, but freakin amazing experience (http://www.bychefchloe.com)
Any suggestions for a cookbook/blog or place where I can get a couple of quick go to recipes that will be appealing to my toddler and my husband and I? I'm not into preparing separate meals for kids and I have a baby too so it had to be quick to prepare or easy to make ahead of time.
