  Hi. A little guidance on how to judge/test a developers expertise would be most appreciated. I am trying to hire back-end developers with expertise in PHP, and an MVC framework, for our startup( our startup has been built using Yii). Now we have bunch of applications of people that seem reasonable, but since neither of us co-founders knows programming ( yeah laugh it up :)) , we are not sure how to judge/test whether a developer is good or not.
