Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
I grew up in Beautiful Jackson, WY. My step grandmother owned a salon and I spent many summers there helping with front desk etc. Although I didn't think I was going into the business (I wanted to be a mechanic) ? at 19 I woke up one day and decided I wanted to do this! I enrolled in Cosmetology school and graduated 15 months later. Since then I've taken numerous continuing education classes to hone my skills and learn new techniques and product knowledge. I'm addicted to certifications.
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
Please have realistic expectations. We are not magicians. Ethically I will do as much as the hair allows. I will not compromise the integrity of your hair to achieve a certain look quickly. Sometimes a dramatic transformation will take several appointments. Please be patient and trust the process.
What are your policies?
I require every client to have a card on file. This protects me from last minute cancelations and no shows. It protects you if you forget your wallet, you can still pay if your card is on file. My cancelation policy is a minimum of 24 hours unless it's a documented emergency. Some services require a deposit that will be applied to your service total at checkout.
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
Just a few months ago a gentleman came to me to cover his bald spot with dreadlocks. Although he wasn't a candidate for dreads we figured out how to get him to feel more confident. I did box braids with a interlocking mesh sewn to the braids. Within the mesh I added more braids to cover his spot. He was literally in tears. Took 5 hours and Although I knew he was moving to Orlando, it was worth it to me to provide that infusion of confidence for him.
