  Need some help/advice. We recently moved here and are discovering the many problems associated with having "hard" water. Our realtor said we could get a water softener at Home Depot for $400. Then we got an estimate from a local company for $1,700. After a friend's recommendation, we contacted Culligan and the price is now up to $4,000! We certainly don't want to spend more money than we have to, but we also don't want to be disappointed with the end result. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
