  I know exactly what you're talking about. I get this too when I walk around barefoot. It's definitely nerve pain and it's quite painful. With orthodics, I'm fine. I haven't seen my podiatrist about it yet. I've used Dr. Sherman in the Kentlands (http://www.kentlandsfootdoctor.com/) . I don't know if he's a specialist in running injuries, but I thought he was good when he cured my Plantar fasciitis, as well as my brother's... just another recommendation as you do your research.
