Does anyone know of a place in town that sells beginner piano books? We need one that would be good for a second year middle school music student who can already read music, but hasn't really played piano before (except on an iPad app.) Thank you!

Try Richard Hannemann. I tried to tag him here but it's not working. He has a non-brick and mortar music store here jn LA and has just about everything you could need. http://hannemannmusic.com/
ISO someone that knows how to play the guitar here in town. TIA

Amanda -- for a reference, I've been playing the special Wine Dinners at Rosebud Cafe. Did one for them last night. I've been doing this kind of work for 45 years -- performance was how I made my living in Los Angeles. Country Clubs, other fine dining, arts and crafts festivals, county fairs (and the Nevada State Fair) as well as any number of private engagements -- weddings, dinners, memorials, etc. And I have been doing some performance work here. And, yes, I also teach the instrument. Call me at 662-0380 :) I also have a website www.hannemannmusic.com
I'm in need of a violin instructor of an advanced student in LA. Recommendations? Thank you!
Richard H. replied:
Kristin Stromberg -- I own the local music store and I often have people asking for music teachers, particularly violin. Please send me your contact info and other pertinent info to add to my list. I also have a page on my website for music teachers. Thanks -- Richard www.hannemannmusic.com
My eight year old daughter is expressing wanting to learn the violin. Is there anyone in the area who teaches? Is this a good age to start a such a technical instrument? Can I purchase a decent used violin? Thoughts?
Richard H. replied:
You folks got busy last night after I went to bed Most of the subject has been covered but I will mention that Hannemann Music (me) also sells and rents orchestra instruments and supplies. Jessica Ross I sell new instruments -- call me at 662-0380 and we can discuss. For those of you who have used instruments particularly half and 3/4 size that you would like to sell I might be interested -- it would be a good way for me to add to my rental stock and right now I'm a little short.
