  My situation was the same as yours. I googled divorce documents for VA and downloaded free fill-in-the-blank forms and did everything myself. It was pretty easy. The only thing I paid for was the filing fee and to have him served because you have to have him served by an official.

  My divorce.com is out of portsmith they walk you through everything provide all forms and help fill out. it's 165 to file and in VA they serve the papers you just pay like 80 to the courts!

  I juat want to mention that unless you have a lot of property, assetts, money, etc. involved it is very possible to handle your divorce without a lawyer. I have done it.

  You do need to file the complaint for divorce, affidavit of consent, verification, certificate of service and the final divorce decree.

  I'm searching for information any one may have/advice you may have. My Ex and I just want to get our divorce finalized. We would prefer not to mess with any lawyers and court hearings if possible. I was told once before a year ago that you can get a mediator to sit in a room with both parties and make a quick easy agreement that works for both, then have it signed and everything be done and done. I'm looking for one of those or a legal ad visor who could provide that service. I would like to have this all done and cleared up it been almost two years and I want to start over. Any information to direct me in the correct path or phone numbers to reach people who can help us would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Guys!

  Saw a few lawyers will take care of this for around. 200.00 . Go on line you may be able to do it less yourself..I. found online a site called I divorce.com

  Go to the prothonatory office web site and get a list of the forms you need. If you both agree on the terms of the divorce you can type it up. Both of you sign it and submit the forms to the prothonatory office. If you need help yhe probono office in the court house can help. Depending on your income it could be free.
