It’s disappointing that I have to post this kind of review for any local business, but my experience with Dubecky Landscaping was the worst I’ve ever had with a business. The story is a long one and Dubecky Landscaping not only did a terrible job, but they also completely ruined our spring. Even though we paid a deposit in November and a down payment in February to be the second job of the season, the job wasn’t completed until June (and, as of July 14, we are still waiting for grass to fill in). They weren’t prepared to start the job on time, and for a landscape design company, they lacked the knowledge and experience to create a professional project.
After finally starting the job and putting in three-fourths of the lawn, they disappeared for nearly four weeks—leaving our yard a mess. The landscape grew full of weeds and the lawn never fully came in. When I told them it needed work, they just put me off and let it fill with weeds around bare spots. At the end, they haphazardly threw down some more seed and minimal amount of peat moss. It was never going to grow. The flower beds immediately filled in with weeds—they never killed the weeds before planting the new plants and never applied a weed deterrent like Preen. The sprinkler heads were installed way too high.
The stamped concrete was a complete disaster. They assured me that it wasn’t subcontracted (per the contract) and then blamed subcontractors when it sat for weeks at a time. In between they blamed the weather, the weather forecast, the concrete delivery company and that their equipment was “unavailable.” Other concrete companies worked through it all. When they finally poured the concrete, it was obvious they rushed it and wanted to get back to a more important job. The forms were crooked and the cuts were ridiculous.
Photos of all my complaints are available at robswindell.com. Just search “Landscaping woes.”
After paying over $10,000, we had to spend an entire weekend after they “finished” fixing the lawn. We spent over $500 on materials. We also had to pay another sprinkler company come out and adjust the height of most of the sprinkler heads to the proper height. We have a concrete company coming out to see if the patio can be fixed.
They contradicted themselves several times. They missed meetings and were often late. I tried over and over to give them the benefit of the doubt. I even tried to give them a way out of the contract. They treated us like fools.
Hi. I have a large pine tree on my property and would like to have lights hung for the holidays. Does anyone know of someone who hangs lights in the area? Thanks ahead of time!
