Question from: Morgan Pierce
My Doxie is 6 now and healthy, but I want to purchase pet insurance to plan for his golden years. Anyone have any recommendations? I can't find an unbiased forum online.

Does anyone have pet insurance for their Chow Chow? What are the pros and cons from what you've experienced? What's the best coverage?
Caranne A. replied:
I use PetFirst Health Care and I find them the best for coverage, rates, and insurability. www.petfirsthealthcare.com Had a different insurance and they reimbursed based on what they thought the vet should charge, not what the vet charged. So, a $225 claim, I had a $100 deductive. That left $125 for them to determine reimbursement. My copay was 20%. In the end, I got back $66. Dropped them. Another popular company pays based on a fee schedule which is a great way for them to not cover much. I am not mentioning those companies names, trying to be polite. With petfirst, I pay $54 a month to cover 3 dogs. Get a total of $12000 coverage to use between the three of them. I could go on and on but instead, if you are interested, check out their website. I only refer them because I am so happy with them. If you decide not to insure, it is a good idea to have a savings account. If you do insure, do it before they have any problems, the younger the better. Sorry so long!!!
