Hi ladies. I'm looking for recommendations for a doctor who specializes in thyroid conditions, someone who looks at the whole picture, and is open minded. Specifically hypothyroid. Thanks

There's also a Thyroid Foundation that's a great resource: http://www.thyroid.ca

My Mom has thyroid issues and specialists didn't get anywhere. She had an eye bulging out of its socket and a year later a naturalpath was the one that connected it to her thyroid issues, stopped some MERCURY that one doctor had put her on and had it fixed in weeks. ...just sayin' that even the so called specialists aren't always worth their weight in salt.\

Trisha, since you are looking for a Doctor who will look at the whole picture, I wanted to suggest that you also (in addition to a Doctor) look for someone who can help you with the underlying emotional issues connected to hypothyroidism. I am a big fan of Louise Hay's work (You Can Heal Your Life) and have used it in my practice and with myself for the last 10 years. It has always been bang on. I developed hypothyroidism years ago when I was trying to conceive and was experiencing infertility and miscarriage. I was at the time doing all sorts of energy work, including seeing a wonderful shaman. When I looked at the probable emotional cause of hypothyroidism, I didn't think it applied to me, I couldn't see it. But one day, after doing more and more work on myself, it was bright and obvious, I saw the connection and then was able to do the work to heal that pain. I eventually had my son and was able to stop taking thyroid meds. So, just food for thought....

Dr. Nita Sherer and Dr. Lochnan were my team of amazing doctors. I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis and had papillary thyroid cancer. I am still alive because of Dr. Sherer and her ability to handle post surgery hematoma.
