I am going on vacation in July and need a safe place for my little dog Frankie. I just trialed a place on Friday and he ended up at the emergency vet so needless to say that place is out.   I use Mutt Maniacs www.muttmaniacs.com. I'm in the city but their facility is by LAX, and they provide a free taxi service. They take great care of my pups, and it's cage-free.
