Reading Trip. Who's going? Unfortunate that the train will be diverted so takes a bit longer but on the plus, you get to go by a route not normally used! Here's my little Google map of the town centre pubs:

I did see a suggestion to meet in the Greyfriars, it doesn't open until midday whereas the Ale House (was Hobgobblin) opens at 11:00, with 8 hand pumps & 2 key keg lines I'd start there. The highlights for beer lovers (rather than pub spotters) will be the Ale House, The Nags Head and the Greyfriars although the Castle Tap isn't too bad. I would suggest Ale House - Castle Tap - Nags - Greyfriars with maybe a look in Pavlovs Dog / Zerodegrees for a contrast.
Cross Country direct train from Bournemouth goes at 09:06 due in at 11:03, if you use other services it will involve some road travel between Eastleigh and Basingstoke.
