Does anyone know of a really good gastroenterologist who is an expert in celiac disease and gluten-sensitivity? Ideally in Spokane, but anywhere in Washington State would work. Portland is okay as well.

The international headquarters of the Gluten Intolerance Group is in Seattle. They are the best source of information about doctors familiar with gluten issues. Check their website (www.gluten.net) for contact information.
Heading to Savannah in a couple days, does anyone have any suggestions for gluten free/soy free restaurants? First real vacation since diagnosis 2 years ago and I'm finding myself starting with a little anxiety. Thanks in advance
Janet F. replied:
Hey, for anyone who is traveling, go to www.gluten.net and click on Find a Restaurant, and then type in the city. Or click on "local branches." If there is one in the area where you are traveling, the branch manager I'm sure could help you out!
I'll be traveling to Asheville, NC soon....anyone been there and have GF restaurant suggestions??
Janet F. replied:
THe Gluten Intolerance Group has a branch in Asheville. The manager is Sheila Horne, I think? Go to www.gluten.net , look on the link for local branches, select NC, and there you have it! Should be able to get lots of advice!

You'll be surprised by what she does know!! "The GF Kid" and "Eating Gluten Free with Emily" are great books for kids. www.gluten.net has a GIG Kids tab. My kids like the "magazine" found there. There are support groups for kids in some areas too. Like · 2 · Mar 12, 2012

Was just told by my doctor that I need to go gluten free and really have no idea where to start. Can anybody recommend some good links for info and recipes?

Karla visit GIG's website: www.gluten.net. You can find a wealth of information on the site: recipes, links to restaurants, education resources. Check out the information under the LEARN tab. there are over 20 downloadable education pieces on different topics related to living gluten-free.
