rosecolorgone replied:You can go through an agency that will help you and the girl with the process or you can make a profile on websites like aupairworld.com (where I found my host family). You won’t get as much guidance if you go that route though. I au paired in France so I don’t know what the visa process is like for Italy, but in France the host family had to provide insurance for the au pair.
CrayonTehSanuki replied:Going through an agency is easier because they can guide you and the au pair through everything and they know all the legalities etc. They also know about which visas she'll need and the requirements for that visa. Also there are other English speaking countries to choose from too. New Zealand and Australian au pairs/nannies are generally highly sought after. There are websites like aupairworld and greataupair that you can look at if you didn't want to go through and agency.

clareseg replied:I was an au pair twice I found both host families on aupairworld.com they also have a lot of information for au pairs and host families. I normally Skype with the families a few times before we agree on a arrangement.

That way, it's easier to find the perfect fit for your family. I found my (fantastic) host family through Aupairworld.com and I would def recommend it. My advice is for you to start looking with plenty of time (at least a few months before the date you want the aupair to start in), to avoid rushing a decision.
