Looking for a new family physician. Mine is going to be a MDVIP only. Would like to stay in Ascension Parish. I have Humana insurance. Any suggestions?

We were going to a doctor who is now one of these MDVIP doctors for 2 years. My daughter was sick for months and all she did was prescribe antibiotics. This past Oct. we decided to try Ochsner and within 15 minutes they sent her for testing and found that she had cancer. All the doctors, esp. the specialist that we have dealt with at Ochsner, have been wonderful.

You can say thank you to Obamacare...we are getting new patients everyday that have left their Dr. For this reason. We are in Baton Rouge off of Perkins...Dr. Briganc who use to be in Gonzales is one of our Docs...many of you probably remember him.

I feel like I'm in an impossible situation. I've gone to my dr for so long, she knows everything about me and my health issues. I can't afford, mentally, to start over and can't afford financially to stay
Denise F. replied:
That is just ridiculous. This to me is just a way to go around not having to deal with insurance companies and Medicare etc. they can keep that fee. That is why there are so many urgent care clinics popping up. I for one go see them when I don't feel well and very rarely see my so called PCP
Bridget R. replied:
I guess if it is an emergency I will go to after hours but for regular blood work will have to make sure I make spot way ahead if schedule if my group goes to this

ME TOO Sue!!! I am so upset by this!! Have going there for over 10 years. I have no idea what I am going to do!!! I called a couple of doctors that referred to me yesterday only to be told "we are not accepting new patients"!!! I was thinking of posting the same thing.
Donna L. replied:
Did you check to see, they want $1,650 per person per year to be your MDVIP!! Who can afford that AND pay the monthly insurance premium also??? Just craziness!!!
Stacy P. replied:
Call me crazy but I signed up because of the uncertainty of healthcare and I don't have time to be treated as a number and wait forever at appointments. I opted to pay it quarterly I guess I'll just clean my own damn house lol
Clara C. replied:
Mine went with MDVIP too. Right now I'm seeing his associate in the same office and pass him in the hall every time I go. I just want to slap him. I don't care for the new guy, but I haven't felt like searching for another doc yet. Good luck!
