After serving as an Army cook in Texas and Georgia during World War II, Clarence "Clix" Pruiksma Sr., began the business in 1949. Born in Paterson, NJ, Mr. Pruiksma learned the trade from his parents, immigrants from the Netherlands who ran a meat market in Prospect Park. Clixes was a restaurant for over a half century in Wyckoff, because of the secret sauce. The recipe remains a family secret, but is now available in Tampa, FL where grandson Christopher J. Arnoldi owns & operates the brand with members of the New Jersey based family.
