TSH of 17.22. A new high for me.(non medical friends, my thyroid is bad ). This explains a lot of my symptoms. The endocrinologist I saw in August declined to test me at that time despite me telling him I was symptomatic. AND HE KNEW WHAT I DID FOR A LIVING! He also told me it is useless to test thyroid antibodies in Hashimoto's patients . HA!
This is why I will continue to see an integrative/functional medicine physician (who IS an MD by the way ) and pay out of pocket for her services when needed, rather than see an endocrinologist who is covered by my insurance . I was following the suggestion of my primary care physician and learned my lesson, which I actually knew would happen. It's worth it to pay to have appropriate care. If I have ever told you that mainstream providers aren't always the best option, or that you should consider a second opinion of an Integrative or Functional Medicine Provider, I have personal proof of why right here!
