  First time I've posted here. My wife and I are moving to Amsterdam for 12 months. We'll both be there probably by 3rd week of April. I however am making a 2 week visit starting this coming Sunday March 29th then returning to the US on April 11. I'm looking for a reasonably priced 1 day walking tour with an emphasis on use of public transportation. I want to see the sites, but I also really want to learn how to get around in Amsterdam before coming back with my wife. I'd appreciate recommendations on a professional tour guide if you may know one. Thanks all.

  Hi Bruce, For getting around a city, with public transportation is quiet expensive, but with the bike you reach all destinations with almost the same time as the tram or the bus, you can check the second hand site in F.B get a bike not fancy and not more than $100.   You can pre-purchase tickets to the Anne Frank House on their website and skip the lines. It was a must-see for me. We did a free walking tour that I enjoyed. http://www.newamsterdamtours.com/ We saw a concert at the beautiful Concertgebouw. http://www.concertgebouw.nl/ We did the Heineken tour. Personally, I could have skipped it, but my husband enjoyed it.
