The upper thermostat keeps tripping on our hot water heater. We replaced both thermostats about 2 years ago. Is this something we can check out and repair ourselves or should we call someone?
Ty D. replied:
More then likely this is due to corrosion and a break in the upper heating element. As a tech I can usually swap them out fast enough to almost avoid any water in the floor, (save an hour of draining the tank). But push comes to shove, drain the tank and visit Home Depot or give Is a call here at ECM 410-830-0004. 100 installed if only element, 150 for element and tstat. hope his helped.
Anyone in the area do electric water heater repair? I'm semi confident all I need is a new thermostat
