I just moved to Everett. I have a pit bull named Karma. I love her to pieces. I have always had problems with her being sort of a crazy spazz dog in the presence of animals that she doesn't know. Ffwd through 2 years of intense training and though i have a very well trained dog, she just cannot shake the anxiety when she sees any kind of another animal. Right now, I'm having issues with her in constant freak out because of all the birds and squirrels that come into my backyard. Though I've been handling it to the best of my ability, today was the final tipping point for me to admit that we need some help with this. After whining at the screen door for hours, and i don't mean the sad kind of whining, she heard a squirrel up in a tree and booked it all the way downstairs and ripped through my mom's screen door. I don't know how to help her, but she is in a constant state of aggitation. Exercise works enough to make her tired enough to take naps, but in all her waking hours, she is just not calm if she is able to hear animal sounds outside and outdoors, she is not calm either. Can anyone help me out? Before we left cali, we had our trainer tell us that we needed behavior modification therapy and some medication for anxiety. She does indeed exhibit every single sign of anxiety in the prescence of wildlife and other uknown animals. Thanks!
