ISO a fair and trusted HVAC repairman. Our heater is starting to blow cold hair for about a minute before it heats up and the unit outside seems to be much louder than it should. TIA!

Denny Koble is probably right. I am owner of Air Comfort Technologies and am an AC tech.If it is a heat pump it may be just in the defrost cycle when it is blowing that cold air. When it gets cold out side like it has been the outdoor coil will freeze up and in order to continue heating it has to defrost that coil so it will reverse the flow of the refrigerant and will blow cool air inside for a little while and usually will make a loud swooshing noise and the outdoor fan will stop running until it goes back to the heating cycle. Let it do its thing and it should return to heat. If not you may have a problem.
