  I'm concerned about the lack of daycare facilities in Metro Manila. I have employees resigning or considering resigning since they do not have adequate help to care for their children. Is there any particular reason why daycare facilities are rare or nonexistent? Does anyone know of any good daycare facilities in Makati? Also, if any of my fellow Makati-based business owners would consider setting up some sort of shared daycare facility for employees with me, let me know so we can talk.

  My daughter went to a day care facility when she was a toddler. It was organized by a group of breastfeeding advocates belonging to an NGO (Arugaan). The concept follows the "creche" concept of child care. You could leave your child at 8 am, pick her up after work around 5 pm, since the idea really is to help out working parents. I paid about 5000 monthly back then, which was quite reasonable considering the staff also cooked meals for the children. All the meals were vegetarian and organic, too.They also provided programmed educational activities for the kids. (My daughter could recognize all the letters of the alphabet by two.) It was a really good concept, and an excellent experience for our family. The facility was in Marikina, run out of the home of the founder of Arugaan. They moved to the PIA office in QC a few years back, but last I heard they were closing up shop in PIA and might be moving back to Marikina because not enough PIA employees were availing of the service, supposedly. I've been wanting to invest in something like this for a while now - I'm pretty sure there is a market but maybe it's a matter of finding the right location.
