[Capitol Home Inspection](http://www.capitolinspections.com/). The exact phrase from our builder was "I've never seen such a thorough home inspection." They are legit awesome. Do it.
Any recommendations for a pre-1950s home inspector? I'm looking into purchasing a project property, and would like to know how much money I'll have to drop into it to make it livable before closing. Does anyone know a reliable home inspector with experience in early 1900s homes?
Any and all leads appreciated!
PeaceScooter replied:
Ray McMurdy at [Capitol Home Inspections](http://www.capitolinspections.com/). Seriously. If there are other people as good as they are, go with them. But what I heard from the builder of my house and my real estate agent, is that they are amazing in a way many others are not. They were very thorough on our new house.
Does anyone know a good local home inspector? Looking for someone to come evaluate our home and chimney.

I'd use two different services. Both locally owned. For the general inspection: Ray McMurdy, Capitol Home Inspections, both State and ASHI licensed. Their website has ability to book or you can call (804) 639-1171. And for the chimney/flue use Cougots Chimney (804) 798-0855. I've used both of these folks personally and most of my clients have too--with glowing reviews. I know some fantastic companies and contractors if you need a referral to anyone else! Or when it comes to buying or selling real estate I am also happy to help.
