My 14 year old is extremely interested in special effects make up and application. She is currently wanting to make a cast so she can start sculpting. Where to start? Any suggestions or schools in the Illinois area? Weekend workshops or summer courses? Here are a couple of her first time attempts.....self taught.

I highly recommend the Stan Winston School of Character Arts. They're an online digital school, with many opportunities to communicate with seasoned professionals. https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/

Anyone done craft foam over foamboard insulation for a shield? Any comments about the results?
Randy S. replied:
Dap works well on closed cell foam for adhering pieces together. It's also much cheaper than FF74. Foamfast 74 is much more versatile and works instantly, there are many uses for &$ that I learned by watching Ted Haines' class at the Stan Winston Scho ol. He is the top foam crafter in the movie business today and he has many, many, tricks up his sleeve. I highly suggest checking it out for yourself, as he does a better job explaining it than I do. https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/.../make-a-dinosaur-t...
I wanted to learn special effects make up is there any school in Bloomington il ?

You can learn at home through various methods. There's http://www.hauntingconsultant.com/hauntingconsultant/Welcome.html, http://www.learnmakeupeffects.com/, and https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/ offers online webinars and tutorials. There are many other sources, but this is a start.
Boffer creation experts! What is your foam of choice? I'm all out of the foam I have been using and need to get some more. Who likes what and more importantly, where can I get it and how much does it cost?
