  Question from a local mom: I am looking for a patient, understanding and competent pediatric dentist that knows how to work with children who have sensory issues. My 8 year old son requires flavorless toothpaste, will take more time than a typically developing child and also has sever motor and vocal tics. I will travel anywhere on Oahu for the right dentist.   My three kids love "dr. Ooch" and his two daughters. Been going to them for years. They have experience with special needs kids, my oldest daughter (11) is on the spectrum. Last year she had a cavity, they helped prep her before the appointment and me and my husband with a story about how they're going to put a star in her tooth. She was in complete tears afterwards but she coped as best she could and has since been back with no anxiety. They have tvs for the kids to be entertained while they are having their exam. They have a blanket that is fastened on snugly with Velcro in case they need deep pressure (it also holds down their arms too which allows the dentist to work on the cavity). http://www.uchidapediatricdentistry.com/
