  I would love to know who painted this portrait of my Mother. I am guessing it was done in the early to mid 1940's. She looks to be between 14 or 17 years old? Her name was Jane White (married name Knapp) and she lived on Monroe St across from Sanford St School in Glens Falls. There was no artist signature on the front or back of the painting when I had it framed. It measures about 36" x 30". It was stored in her brother's attic for many years. I asked two of her friends, Maryanne Potter and Tucky Beeman if they knew who painted it. They had no idea. I was told by an appraiser that the artists work was quite good. Does anyone know of any portrait artists or recognize the artists style from the 40's? We knew Jerry Dodge through my step grandfather. Jerry was married to his daughter and they lived in GF from 1941-1962 when he was the Curator for the Hyde Museum. My step grandfather married my grandmother in 1951. I'm not sure my Mother knew Jerry earlier. Thanks so much.
