Need some advice. I'm currently and DJ and now going into supplying entertainment my PLI is with AMP DJ but doesn't cover when you are the promoter or organiser does anyone know where I can get PLI to cover me as a DJ and promoter?
James R. replied:
If being booked as a DJ then £29.99 per year to https://www.facebook.com/161449323906432 Mobile DJ Network. For extras or different circumstances e.g. event promoter/organiser then get in touch with www.hencilla.co.uk
Hello producer brains,
Can anyone recommend a good, forward thinking insurance company? I need to get short term cover for a show which uses an app to interact with audiences mobile phones and their data. I've tried everyone's favourite Wrightsure but they won't do it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Faith D. replied:
Ems...I can't recommend them (as I still haven't got round to investigating further!) but maybe try http://www.hencilla.co.uk I seem to remember they do short term cover xx

Anyone know of any good insurance companies/policies to protect DJ equipment?
Pete W. replied:
If you're an MDJN Paid Memmber Chris then contact Hencilla.co.uk and they will give you a discounted rate. Typically around £120 for 5 k of equipment with no excess!!
Where's the best place to start looking at equipment insurance? Mines usually stored at my usual venue however is not covered by their policy... Any advice would be great!

With the cover we got quoted by hencilla it covered unattended for less than DJ Guard which only had attended cover.
Hi there, i have a friend whose just starting up in business (offering PA hire & recording studio sessions)
I'm guessing our mobile dj network PLI wont cover him as he's not doing discos?
Can anybody recommend a PLI company which would insure him mainly for his PA hire & how much would it cost per year? any recommended companies?
Carl H. replied:
I use these for my PA business http://www.hencilla.co.uk/
DJ equipment insurance?
Can anyone recommend DJ Guard or Allianz, or a.n.other company?
(Not PLI as I have that through MDJN ;))
Robert G. replied:
As you may know MDJN membership ..Gives you Public liability Insurance and Employers liability Insurance as a member benefit. It does not include equipment insurance to cover theft or damage BUT there is good news as a paid member of MDJN you can get quoted a discounted Equipment cover.. These are done on a case by case basis based on your equipment your personal details etc ..to get a proper tailored quote, hence why we don't have a price list but from the information we got from Hencilla it offered better cover at a much lower cost on a like for like basis than the equivalent from DJguard. You need your MDJN membership number and a list of equipment and to contact Mark Hopkinson at Hencilla Canworth Ltd, Simpson House, 6 Cherry Orchard Road, Croydon, CR9 6AZ. Telephone: 020 8686 5050. Fax: 020 8686 5559.
Gents, I'm looking for a new supplier of equipment insurance. Needs to cover use in all kinds of venues. Who do you currently use?
Robert G. replied:

Has anyone on here had experience with DJ Guard?.For example had to claim and were they ok to deal with?.TIA
Jason C. replied:
I've heard good and bad things - people who didn't read the policy will always be vocal, just the same are the guys that modify their cars and try to claim on their car insurance. I know members here have claimed successfully. However, there are other options that are lower cost and better value. Hencilla are the broker for all the DJ organisations PLI, and will provide a discount on separate equipment cover. MDJN/SEDA/NADJ and even AmpDJ all use Hencilla for their PLI policy, and so if you are a member of any of these, you should contact them for a quote. http://www.hencilla.co.uk/ Even for a very small rig, the savings are worth it. We found that combined MDJN (£29.99) and separate equipment insurance was still cheaper than DJ Guard.
Jason C. replied:
I think Glenn Nash has equipment cover with them. If you're thinking of signing up, contact Hencilla for an alternative quote. I have seen figures showing MDJN membership with Hencilla providing equipment cover is more competitive AND better cover than DJ Guard.
Jason C. replied:
Yep, I think you'll find it a better option. It then can become a custom quote, so you can ask for extra cover or perhaps exclude cover (ie its never left in the van. DJ Guard is simple and easy, but ultimately you will need a list of items with serials for any insurance and like-for-like, we know Hencilla is cheaper with less exclusions.
Can anyone advise me on renewing car insurance? It seems that now my main work is as an actor insurance companies think I'm a reckless idiot!! I do do other work too but fear that if I ignore 'acting' as a catergory I would be on dodgy ground so to speak. I know Equity have raised this with insurance companies etc but I'm just wondering what advice others might have? Many thanks
Margaret M. replied:
Sorry, the name they use for actors stuff is First Act at www.hencilla.co.uk or check your latest Equity Journal for more detail - or Equity main website,
Margaret M. replied:
Go to the Equity insurance brokers Hencilla Canworth. They understand about actors.
