Putting in out there again - any hairdresser/ salon recommendations that are actually affordable? Or hairdressers in this group that will do it privately? Contacted all previously suggested and a root touch up, foils and trim is $300+ (I pay $120 back home). I can't justify $300+ for a cm of root and a trim of an inch off the end. Really don't want to have to DYI :-(

Hi All, I am brand new to New York (arrived 10 days ago) and I am struggling to find a good hairdresser and a good beauty (nails, waxing ect.) place. If you have any recommendations I'd love to hear them. Thanks. Ange :)

Welcome to NY Ange!! Another Salon and stylist that I can highly recommend, particularly for those on a budget, is SILVIA at Marysia Salon in the East Village on 1 st Ave. The salon is filled with polish women who chat away in Polish to each other and i t's not your trendy midtown salon, yet who cares because Silvia does a very good hair cut for $40 ( about a 1/5 of what most NYC salons cost). A cut and half head of highlights is $100. I am fussy and I feel Silvia is a real find for those on a budget. Phone: 212-777 2490. Hope that supplies another option, Danielle
