I need to find a new doctor. I am on seizure medication, which weakens your bones. Both my mom and aunt had early onset osteoporosis. I had osteopenia in my hips 2 years ago and though it is not yet osteoporosis, it has gotten worse. I take 1600 mg of calcium a day and 1200 IU of vitamin D, as well as I have been eating almonds left and right. I dislocated my toe (put it back in myself) YET AGAIN so I am just now getting to where I can walk again. My doctor sees nothing wrong and sent the report saying to do nothing. I am 40...simply taking an excess of calcium is not building the bone I am continuing...and obviously will continue to lose. She does not care. Naturopaths that take United Healthcare maybe? I could see another doctor in the same office but don't know that it is my best option either. Obviously need gluten free friendly people because of yhe celiac. The one my neuro suggested isn't taking new patients apparently when my mom tried her (mom hates this doc too). So...anywhere from Newberg to Beaverton to Portland to Lake O really. Ok, where in Portland makes a difference since I am in Sherwood I would rather not drive too far if I don't have to. Though my husband is looking for work and one option is in Vancouver so you never know. Anyhoo...suggestions? I'd like to be able to take my 2 boys eventually too.
