  I wasn't aware until recently that there are also animal fostering/hiding systems for domestic violence victims. The one in Georgia is http://ahimsahouse.org/ but they might be able to help find something in FL. I had never considered having to leave a pet. Would be horrifying.

  Does anyone know of a dog behaviorist/trainer either in Metro Atlanta or the Macon area that would be willing to donate their time to work with a dog that has been a victim of domestic violence? It would be ideal if he could stay with the trainer at their home or facility. This would be fairly short term. Baby is a medium sized 9 month old male puppy. He needs help with socialization and overcoming fear issues due to the abuse he suffered at the hands of the family's abuser. We are trying to get him happy and healthy while his family is doing the same. Please contact advocate@ahimsahouse.org if you can help or know of someone who can.

  Do you know of a pet-friendly business that may want to put up a Giving Tree this December to support Ahimsa House? Perhaps you know of a doggy daycare place, a local vet, your dry cleaners, a local cafe, even your own office...all of these are great ideas. The idea is simple: Put up a tree in their lobby, decorate it with paper ornaments indicating different levels of cash donations to help fund-a-need for Ahimsa House, stick a sign on their counter explaining the fundraiser, and then collect it all after the holidays. We can email you all the materials you will need - We just need help asking businesses to put these trees up! Take a look at a tree we did last year at DogPhoria, a doggy daycare in Chamblee, GA! If you find a business who is open to this idea, please send an email to services@ahimsahouse.org and we'll get ya all set up! The end of the year is the hardest time financially for Ahimsa House so we need your help to continue doing all the great things we do for people and their pets!
