  Yvonne Kruger Steyn There are huge congestion problems with the ADSL exhanges, which is why so many people are looking at wireless solutions. There are a couple of questions you need to ask yourself when you are looking at a wireless internet service provider. First of all, are they licensed? In our case, that information is here http://www.cape-connect.com/about.htm Then ask yourself how long the company's been around. In the six years we've been around. we've seen many companies arrive on the scene and disappear. I think it's just Amobia, Comtel and NetX that have been around longer than us, but I stand corrected and apologise in advance if I've left anyone out. The next question you have to ask yourself is where are they located and how long will it take for their staff to resolve your problem if something goes wrong? For example, are they going to have to drive to Somerset West from Caledon or Milnerton? We are a local business. We spend our money at local businesses and like the concept of keeping things local. You also need to look at support. Can you call somebody at 8:00 pm if you have a problem? Lastly, do they bend the truth in their marketing and do they offer what they say they are offering? An easy way to establish that is to ask them to demo at your premises and substantiate their claims, or arrange a demo near you to substantiate their claims, or to ask for referrals. We let clients like Andrew Norman talk for us. If somebody claims that they can provide you with 150Mb/s wireless, have them show you a 150Mb/s speedtest to servers outside of their network (for example a MyBroadband speedtest server based in Johannesburg). You should also check out their infrastructure and backbone connectivity. There are too many fly by nights with a 10Mb ADSL in their bedroom and an antenna on their roof, who call themselves wireless internet service providers.

  we reached the same situation & changed to Cape Connect Internet, they are local, professional, ethical & when something goes wrong they deal with it then not next week but then. We've even had calls from them late in the evening to apologise when they discovered a fault to let us know. Plus their speed, for us, knocks telkom into a cocked hat.
