Does anybody on here have a 3D printer? If so, which model, is it any good, and would you recommend buying one now or waiting a year or so for the prices to drop and quality to improve?
I'm looking to learn about 3D printers: how they work exactly, what materials can be used, what are the costs and efficiencies... wish I had asked more questions at the Makers Faire! Any suggestions for info sources?

Hello, Marta, The "consumer-grade" 3D printers are all essentially "hot-glue guns" (thermoplastic extruders) mounted on X-Y-Z CNC (Computer-numerically-controlled) 3D positioners. The SoliDoodle starts at $499, the MakerBots, RepRaps, etc. are around $1,000. The materials are thromoplastic filaments -- ABS or Polycarbonate.
